EP Concept
The In Bloom EP captures the vibrant energy that emerges when women and gender-expansive artists come together to create in spaces built by and for each other. The tracks on Gender Amplified’s first EP release - In Bloom - were born out of the Ctrl Room Series, a community-driven production and songwriting camp where artists gather to experiment, collaborate, and share their stories. More than just a space to make music, these events are about fostering a culture of mutual support, where we celebrate our diverse experiences and nurture one another's growth. It’s a reflection of the power we generate when we take the reins, build our own networks, and carve out space for the kind of creative expression that’s often overlooked.
What you’re hearing on In Bloom is the product of that spirit—a mix of joy, vulnerability, reflection, and nostalgia. It’s not an act of “blossoming” in the trite sense, but an honest reckoning with the struggle, growth, and transformation our community experiences as artists and as people navigating a world that doesn’t always make space for us. This is music that pulls no punches—powerful and raw, sensitive and playful, it reflects the complexities of our lives as women and gender-expansive folks in the music industry.
We’re proud to spotlight 8 amazing artists from the Gender Amplified collective in this release. These artists who trust us to support their work are at the core of this project. Without their contributions, we wouldn’t be able to capture the range of voices and experiences that make this project what it is. And we don’t take that trust lightly. These are the people who keep pushing boundaries, and who are constantly finding new ways to make space for themselves in the spaces that would prefer they stay quiet. Each track on this EP is a reminder of how far we’ve come and how much further we still need to go, both in the music industry and in our daily lives.
We’re proud to be working with our distribution partner, ADA, to make sure this music reaches the people who need to hear it. We know the music industry still has a long way to go when it comes to supporting women and gender-expansive people, especially in production. Women make up only about 2% of the music production workforce, but we are here, we are making the music, and we’re damn proud of it!
Track Narratives
"Trick Mirror" kicks off In Bloom with a hyperpop twist—playful but cutting, deep but deceptively light. Caro♡ and dance arts center trade barbs and reflections in this glitchy anthem, asking: "Why’d you run? Did I see too much? Or was it a trick mirror?" It’s a cheeky dive into self-perception, illusion, and the fragility of connection. It’s got a shimmering production and emotional undercurrent.
"Future Number" is a reflective track that captures the quiet power of growth. With its blend of R&B and alternative pop, the song explores the idea of looking back at your younger self and realizing how far you’ve come. It’s about understanding that the dream life isn’t something you rush toward—it’s something you build, step by step. With soulful vocals from Olivia Reid, virgogabrielle, and Lyd Marie, the track balances introspection and freedom, offering a moment to pause and appreciate where you are in the journey.
"Still Got Time" is a gentle anthem for self-compassion. With sweeping production and a soft, steady flow, this track reminds you to be kind to yourself during moments of struggle. It’s a reflection on the importance of taking things slow, giving yourself room to grow, and remembering that it’s okay to not have it all figured out. The song’s soothing vibe invites you to pause, breathe, and trust that there’s still time to become the person you’re meant to be.
